Glee star Lea Michele nabs the striking black and white cover of Flare’s January issue and ET Canada has your exclusive first look!
Having been a Broadway veteran at a very young age, it’s no surprise that Ryan Murphy decided to give Lea’s Glee alter-ego Rachel Barry a storyline of her own in the big apple. It’s a win-win for the actress as she speaks out on her character’s liberation from not only small town Ohio, but also her dorky schoolgirl outfits. “I think the days of knee-high socks are definitely done,” Lea tells the magazine.
Rachel’s new look is more sophisticated, fashion forward and body conscious “her clothes are closer now to what I would wear,” the 26-year-old says elaborating further, ” It’s really nice to see her in a different light and it makes sense that she would move to NY and transition.”
The amazing part of Rachel’s on screen makeover? It was done by none other than New York style icon Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the infamous fashion lover Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City. In the new season of Glee, Sarah plays an editor of a fashion magazine where Rachel’s old classmate/new New York room-mate Kurt, played by Chris Colfer, has landed an internship.
“It was amazing,” the New York native marvels “to have a makeover done by the Miss Carrie Bradshaw.”
Speaking of style, with flawless skin, and caterpillar thick lashes it’s easy to see why L’Oreal would choose Lea as one of their newest spokeswomen. Lea who’s very style conscious tells the magazine that she’s a favourite of going au natural in the makeup department. “I really feel like I’m the only girl who will do a photo shoot and want to take all the hair and makeup off,” she says, “I like to let my skin breathe.”
Taking a moment to gush about real life boyfriend Cory Monteith, Lea also has some heartfelt things to say about his home country, Canada. “Canadian stereotypes?…I don’t know what they are, but Canada makes some great dudes, and he’s definitely one of them.” And Lea’s well aware of the benefits of dating a Canadian, first and foremost being able to visit our beautiful country. “It’s great, I’ve gotten to go to Victoria and Vancouver a lot – it’s so beautiful.”
So, what do you think 'bout this guys? The Princess of Glee :)
